Dropping out of high school is a life-changing experience, generally for the worse. Decent jobs are nearly impossible to come by, and life is a struggle. We recently completed the third in a series of films profiling people of all ages and backgrounds who overcame the odds … and got their high school equivalency degree, opening doors to a future that had been closed to them. At the center of each story is the HiSET® high school equivalency test, created by ETS to assist adult education programs around the country. We visited Louisiana, Iowa, Maine, New Hampshire and Tennessee to profile these remarkable people who are now moving forward to better lives for themselves and their families.
This film tells the story of four Louisianans: Latasha, Holden, Alexander and Tracy:
The previous films in this series profiled a blackjack dealer, a mechanical engineering student, a young mom and a prison inmate in Iowa; and a sound engineer, a factory worker, an animal trainer, a recent immigrant and an inmate in Maine, New Hampshire and Tennessee.
